Matt LeGrand is back with yet another impeccable original and the track in question being I’ve Been Watching You. He even had groundbreaking Venezuelan hip hop artist, Mestiza sing on this sumptuous song.
LeGrand is a sublime singer/ songwriter who comes all the way from Chicago. He’s a true talent who already has a handful of songs underneath his belt. Matt’s music came into my life in 2017, back then he just dropped the amazing All Good and that tantalising tune heightened my desire for more originals. I then explored the back catalogue and came across the likes of Jumpin, Spring Break Girl, One More Try and Fire. The following yea then saw the unveiling of 12:00am and this shimming synth pop gem was an infectious ear worm.
Anyhow I’ve Been Watching You was unveiled on 6th September 2019. This compelling cut was produced by Dave Hall (Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Madonna) and co-produced by Veteran Music Executive Bryant Reid (Usher, Toni Braxton, Jermaine Dupri)
I’ve listened to this tantalising tune multiple times and I’m thoroughly impressed with the end product. Matt’s vibrant vocals were smooth like butter and those luscious lyrics were super sultry. These whimsical words were crystal clear and I can picture the scenario. Basically I’ve Been Watching You told the story of a girl catching your eye which then results in making the first move “I’ve Been Watching You all night/ So tell me what you wanna do/ Girl you know your just my type/ So come on let me rock with you”.
Halfway through this captivating cut Mestiza provided her fierce raps which resulted in something rather entrancing. This was purely down to the fact she rapped in her native tongue. Now Mestiza started performing at the age of 10, she’s also made waves in Latin American countries including Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico, and recently came to the states to work with artists including Darkiel, Jamy El Favo, and Melymel.
To sum things up, this exquisite single was a perfectly penned piece of sheer bliss. From listening to this enthralling number only intensifies the desire for more originals in the nearby future. Matt LeGrand has something incredibly special and the inclusion of Mestiza’s rap worked wonders.
